Your podcast taught me so much about what a journalistic podcast could and should be. I'm really devastated that it's coming to an end. We've never spoken but I feel like I know you and your team after all these years of tuning in. I wish you the best of luck.
It’s one of the most stupid moves ABC’s made in some time—and I worked for them in the early 2000s. It shows me how legacy media just isn’t as flexible as it _needs_ to be. Ironically, I left to get my MS at Columbia J-school, which as you alluded to, is nowhere near the greatest education as your first newsroom. I am sure your star will continue to rise. Hope to see you collaborate with OG Claire Malone, and possibly even Nate, at some point in the future, too!
Can't wait to see what you do next. Your hosting of the roundtable 538 politics podcast was great, but I thought you always had some of the most insightful and smart questions in your one-on-one interviews. I particularly remember your first interview with Ann Selzer. You also do a good job of calling out BS answers/question avoidance without being overly confrontational. Good luck with everything going forward.
Thank you Galen for all the podcasts over the years.
Was devastated to hear that it was cut today. Your podcast has been by go to source for unbiased take on what’s going on in politics through a data driven approach.
You and your team really helped center my politic beliefs in facts over the years
Your podcast was amazing and one of the only truly non-vibes basesd political podcasts out there! You are such a great host and I hope bright things ahead! You were always the best at keeping Nate in check and you two were such a good ying-yang
I just learned about 538 being shut down, and I’m genuinely grieving a bit. The 538 politics podcast has been in my rotation for, like, ten years now (can that be right? … jesus) and I’ve deeply appreciated it. At baseline, I can be a bit of a salty, curmudgeonly, disagreeable sort of guy, so it’s not like I always agreed with y’all, but, gosh darnnit, I deeply enjoyed listening and learning about polling and hearing the headlines and political goings-on and even disagreeing with the hosts and guests and developing my own views on the subjects y’all discussed. Thanks for all the work you did. Seriously. I can’t tell you how many car rides and workouts and chores you made better by being there to help me learn and engage and think. I’m excited for whatever you do next and, in the meantime, feeling some unexpected sadness, loss, and grief.
I have been listening to you since 2018 and have appreciated you and the entire team so much. I’ve been sad each time someone left but this one hurts the most. You guys became my commuter friends even if the conversations were mostly one way. Thank you Galen for teaching me so much with your colleagues.
Bad use of layoffs by Disney! Looking forward to what comes next, I really enjoyed the podcast over the years as it helped us navigate through some crazy times. Everything will work out in the end!
I've only skipped 3-4 podcasts in those 9+ years. I was shocked when I heard the open to the reaction podcast this morning. I've gone through a period of bargaining and anger. I'm dispirited but moving towards hope for those next steps and a kind of motivation to continue the pursuit of a data-driven outlook on the body politics and how they address the real world problems we face.
Thank you Galen and the whole team for the work you've done these years. When you land on your feet, I will push "subscribe" and buy a mattress or probiotics or nearly any product from the company which places the first ad buy!

I agree, the one-on-one interview is a place Galen is really a cut above the rest, for all of the reasons you said Chad.

Get Nate and Clare together for a podcast again. I miss that version of the podcast.
That would be really amazing! Would love it if they could get the OGs back together!
OMG. 100% this. I came here to say this exact thing because these were my fondest memories.

Tough news indeed. Bravo on all your work over the years, Galen - here to help in whatever way!
Can’t wait to see what you do next!! You’re such a thoughtful, kind, interesting, clever, and unique person. XO

You’ve done a great job hosting over the years. Hopeful the change brings better things for you. I think it will.
Loved the work at 538 so much, can’t wait to follow along to what’s next
