Who is running this GD show?

Hello! I’m Galen Druke. You might know me from my time hosting the “FiveThirtyEight Politics” podcast, but, if not, all the better. I’m glad you’re here!

I covered elections for nearly a decade at FiveThirtyEight/ABC News and my goal in that job was to describe the world using data and evidence, while also having a sense of humor.

The “GD POLITICS” podcast is going to abide by a similar ethos, with plenty of new stuff thrown in. I will to talk to journalists, politicians and folks with compelling ideas about the world who also know how to laugh. A lot of that will be politics-focused, but not exclusively. Because, as we say: “GD politics!” Sometimes we just have to talk about something else.

Regardless of the topic, curiosity, rigor, and a sense of humor will guide the way. As a result, I hope this will be a place where all kinds of politically inclined people find value and feel welcome.

Speaking of value, I also hope you’ll subscribe! I am in the very early days of this new endeavor and it’s going to be an iterative process. The exact format, number of episodes, what’s behind a paywall, use of video, and quality of editing will in some ways depend on you. This is not going to be the same podcast I just finished hosting. I’m hoping it’s going to be better! And with your support, I think we can get there.
